Vegetable export value slide 94pc on low volumes
The value of Kenya’s vegetable exports dropped sharply by 94 percent or sh 811 million in January of 2022 as a result of low volumes.
Data by the Kenya national bureau of statistics, KNBS shows this facts.
The quantity of vegetables exports decreased from 6,643.50 tonnes in December 2021 to 2355.98 tonnes in January, shrinking over all earnings. It was not immediately clear what caused the sharp drop in vegetables export volumes in January.
This comes at a times when the fresh produce consortium of Kenya and other key players are launching regional fresh produce flights and logistics hubs.
Kisumu and Eldoret airports are some of the new hubs for the export of fresh produce out of the country.
