Kenya’s Food Production Soars Says Cs Linturi
Agriculture CS Mithika Linturi Applauds Farmers for Abundant Food Supply Amidst Rainy Season
During a fundraising event at Riiji Catholic Church in Central Imenti, Agriculture and Livestock Cabinet Secretary Mithika Linturi extended congratulations to Kenyan farmers for their remarkable contribution to the country’s food security during the recent rainy season.
CS Linturi attributed this success to the effective utilization of fertilizer subsidies and other support initiatives by farmers, enabling them to generate sufficient food for both personal consumption and commercial purposes.
“In the wake of our administration, we encountered soaring food prices due to shortages, prompting us to implement interventions and encourage farmers to ramp up production. Today, I am proud to stand here and commend them for responding to our call, resulting in ample food supply nationwide,” stated Linturi.
He emphasized that the government, particularly his ministry, has comprehensive strategies in place to bolster agricultural productivity, thereby tackling the persistent challenge of high living costs in the country.
Linturi urged farmers to capitalize on the prevailing rainy season to boost food output while highlighting ongoing government efforts to manage floods across various regions.
“With abundant rainfall, we urge our farmers to capitalize on this opportunity for increased agricultural output. Additionally, these rains are contributing significantly to hydroelectric power generation, ultimately reducing production expenses,” added Mr. Linturi.
