AGRICULTURE AND FOOD AUTHORITY (AFA)
AFA is a product of Agriculture Sector Reforms which commenced in 2003 with the formulation of the Economic Recovery Strategy for Wealth and Employment Creation (ERS) and the Strategy for the Revitalization of Agriculture (SRA).The reforms focused on improving efficiency and effectiveness of service delivery through the review of the legal and regulatory framework in the agriculture Sector.
The following institutions were abolished and succeeded by the Authority;

- Kenya Coconut Development Authority
- Coffee Board of Kenya
- Cotton Development Authority
- Horticultural Crops Development Authority;
- Kenya Sisal Board
- Kenya Sugar Board
- Pyrethrum Board of Kenya
The authority is currently comprised of the following Directorates/Departments
- Sugar Directorate;
- Coffee Directorate;
- Fibre Crops Directorate;
- Horticultural Crops Directorate;
- Food Directorate;
- Nuts and Oil Crops Directorate;
- Miraa, Pyrethrum and other Industrial Crops Directorate; and
- Corporate Services Directorate.

Public notice
It has come to our attention that there are unscrupulous fraudsters misleading members of the public that Agriculture and Food Authority is currently employing Agricultural Extension Officers.
They are issuing fake appointment letters purportedly from AFA, at a fee.
AFA has reported the same to the National Security Agencies and
the matter is under investigation.
Please be advised that AFA in not currently employing and whenever employment opportunities arise, the same are advertised in mainstream Print Media and our Website.
